FAQs
Witch Corner is a folklore-themed sculpture trail with twelve stops. It also includes a play area and Witch’s Cottage shop. Younger visitors can enjoy completing the Activity Booklet, solving the clues and completing the activities at each story stop. More in-depth information on each legend or folktale is available through the Abbotsford app which also includes a quiz and a Curator’s Cauldron audio guide to allow older children and adults the opportunity to explore the secrets behind the stories used in the Trail.
Witch Corner is a sculpture trail inspired by Scottish legends and folklore and is suitable for all ages. Our activity booklet and play equipment is primarily aimed at 3- 11 year olds, although under 7s may require parental help with the activity booklet. Our booklet is best completed as an enjoyable family experience. Our app includes further information, a quiz, and a Curator’s Cauldron audio guide to allow older children and adults the opportunity to explore the secrets behind the stories used in the Trail.
Children aged 2 and under are admitted free of charge, everyone aged 3 and over will require a ticket.
Dogs are very welcome but we ask that they are kept on short leads, away from the sculptures and that any mess is cleaned up. Bins are provided throughout the Abbotsford estate.
If you have purchased an adult annual ticket you will receive a parking pass to put in your car on arrival at Witch Corner. We will also take details of your number plate on the day, so there’s no need to put the pass in the car before starting the trail.
A visit to Witch Corner will take approximately 1 hour. Don’t forget you can also enjoy Abbotsford’s estate walks, café, visitor centre, house and gardens whilst you’re here.
Tickets and booklets can be collected from the Witch's Cottage at the entrance to Witch Corner, opposite Abbotsford’s Visitor Centre. During off-peak hours, the Witch's Cottage may be closed and tickets and booklets can be collected from inside the Visitor Centre.
Yes, Witch Corner is buggy and wheelchair accessible. However, it does include some steep sections due to a natural slope. It is possible to exit the trail before the slope.
The trail is outdoors, so we recommend comfortable, weather appropriate clothing and shoes. We also encourage dressing up to complete the trail!
No, annual tickets are to be used by the same individuals. We will take a photo of you when you buy or pick up your annual ticket on arrival which will be linked to your ticket on our system.
We operate a 24 hour cancellation notice. If you need to cancel within 24 hours of your booking, we will happily rearrange your visit for another time.
For health and safety reasons, Witch Corner may need to close in high winds or other severe weather. Please check our website or Facebook page for closure announcements before travelling if severe weather is forecast.
